Oscar Sunday 2009
This past Sunday I went to Shane's house to watch the Oscars with some friends. It was a lot of fun and quite refreshing. It reminded me that I still want to tell stories, preferably via film, but flexible to where the Lord wants to take me. This past year has been very arduous for me, both personally and spiritually. And in the midst of all the struggle and refinement, doubts and comforts I made the mistake or sin of forgetting. But maybe I needed to forget so when I came back to it I would see the contrast. I have been humbled, and that is always a good thing. I thought maybe I could become a High School art teacher, but if these past 6 months of being a "teacher" has taught me anything it is that that I don't have the patience to do this long term. I can feel the apathy sinking in already, and that is not fair to the kids.
And here are some doodles. :D

Leave a Mark
Back in September I was traveling with some friends. Paul DeGeorge was reading and marking up a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone that he was then gonna auction off to charity. He asked Melissa Anelli to note up a few pages, and then when he noticed my wondering eye he let me do a doodle in it. That one doodle quickly became 7 over the course of the trip :Þ
This is the link tot he the Leave a Mark Blog.

The marked up book raised $310 for charity!
How cool is that?

Kate on the Rocks
I have been listening to The Lost PodCast with Jay and Jack for about a month now, and I am really loving it! From one PodCaster to another, cheers guys! ( I have been on PotterCast for a year now.. weird :P) You do a great job! Last weeks episode Kate washed up on the rocks, so Jay and Jack made a joke about "Kate on the Rocks". I got a very vivid image in my little head so I drew it during class yesterday and today. This drawing was nice and refreshing distraction from the chaos of the students.
Jay and Jack are having a contest to come up with a drink mix. So i drew this and here is my suggestion.
I don't know my way around too much Alcohol seeing as how I don't agree with drunkenness, but I do enjoy a beverage from time to time (and I am obeying the laws of the land seeing that I am over 21)
KATE ON THE ROCKS
I would mix whiskey with a dash of sweet & sour.
Kate is classic and tough like Whiskey. The dash of sweet & sour is there because she likes to play with the hearts of us Menfolk. /gentle nod to both Sawyer and Jack

I have been a busy bee lately with subbing/teaching full time and doing some freelance here and there. I have been behind on my blog a little bit. Here are a couple of weeks of Church Notes and such. I didn't get a chance to color them, so here they are in the raw... : \

Food Groups
Last week I asked our Vlog Viewers to tell me what food they would be if they were foods, much like how me and my fellow PotterCasters are foods and drinks of sorts. Here were some of my favorites and the drawings that came from them.
Courteni here was responsible for the notorious Poppin' Pellegrino Time video! She strikes again!!
And this one I think snuck it's way to the top because of the Friends reference. :B

Disney at Starbucks
It was an interesting evening, I was working on some artwork that looks like it's not gonna be used for what I intended it. So maybe ill post it up here eventually :) But right now I shant. Any who I was at the Starbucks that my future roomie works. I was introduced to a gentleman who works as a History professor at Cal State Fullerton. It turns out that he was a Disney animator for 20 plus years! He worked on just about everything from Oliver and Company to Treasure Planet! It was crazy to be able to talk to a man who worked on stuff that was such a huge part of my childhood. It was cwazy. And I met a new friend names Kelsey, she was cool.

Church Notes | 2/08/09
During worship the Lord convicted me. Many times I have an anxious heart, looking for something to do, or someone to talk to, I can get very lonely. But the Lord reminded me only He can satisfy. And my goal this week is too see Him and His Satisfaction. Needles to say it was a very powerful evening. But with such an awakening and refreshment of the Holy Spirit comes warfare. And boy have I been subject to the spiritual jabs and bruises. If you pray, throw one up for me.

Progress
I was talking with a student today about the importance of drawing, " The more you draw the better!" I said. Drawing is like any other skill that you have to practice and work at. The more you do it the better you get at it, the quantity effects the quality. You cant expect to write a symphony the first time you lay fingers on them ivories. The same goes for visual arts, I showed him this example.
I drew this fire candle chick lady person back in February of 1998, my junior year of high school.
I then showed him what 3 years could achieve with this one form January 2001, my second year at Cal State Fullerton. I used oil pastels on this one, and we are just happening to be going over oil pastels in class right now.

"TURN OR BUUUUUURN!!
My buddy Fro showed me this hilarious video his buddy made.
It's pretty darn funny. Maybe because I had a similar approach to ministry when I was younger. I thank the Lord for His grace and patience with me. I was very encouraged to see his dedication and excitement to his specific calling. Using his talents and passions for the Lord. To top it off, this message of such importance and of such serious nature, is communicated very effectively and arguably more importantly it is very approachable. All thanks to his humor. Kuddos!!
