Four Years

My blog is now 4 years old and 343 posts deep. Despite the neglect 2009 brought him, he is flourishing. Look how he has grown! He is an even bigger magical winged cat than before! He even kind of looks like the Cheshire cat. Shocking!

2009 was not a good year for my blog, I did 41 less posts than 2008. But no worries, moving on. This year I am going to post more regularly, last year I really did miss it.

"The Widget"

This is "The Widget", he lives under the tables at work. When you wake him up by pulling on an iPod or MacBook too hard he starts to run around the floor and scream! The only way to shut him up is to feed him a business related receipt. He will then choke it down like a seagull swallowing a fish whole. When satisfied he will run back over to his "home" an nestle himself away never to be heard from again. And by never I mean 20 minutes.

And a special thanks goes out to Drew Metz for co creating "The Widget" with me.

Church Notes | Brooklyn Tabernacle

Church notes are back!
Here are my notes form when I was in NY a few weeks back.

I met my friends Melinda, Kristen and Natalie there. I also made a new one, Brigid, she too was an art major at CSUF thus making her awesome and cool. More than a few years back I watched a sermon from this church on the power of the Holy Spirit. I am very glad to say the Spirit is moving there quite powerfully, and it was an awesome and much needed experience for me. The worship was powerful, it was cool to have a more choir vibe to worship. The study was strong, it was on the Authority of the Home. How husbands and wives relate to each other and their roles, how the man needs to serve his wife as Christ served the Church, sacrificially. And how in the wives role submission speaks nothing of quality, but quite the opposite.

Da Cold

Greeting all of you out there who do not live in Southern Cali. You may notice I get excited form time to time about getting to wear a scarf, jacket and/or gloves. You might turn your nose up at me because it only is 55° out here, and why would anyone need to bundle up so much for such a modestly cold night?! Well I hate to break it to ya, I don't have to I get to! It's very few and far between that I get to dress as the aforementioned. So please don't take that away from me. ;)

P.S. I just spent nearly a week in New York a few weeks ago, and the average temperature for the 5.5 days I was there was about 24°, one day it s 16° in the morning. I loved every second of it! :D

Sleeping Beauty

This is a painting I did for one of my best friends from college, Sarah Turner, aka Isabella!

She is moving to Germany… I am quite sad. But only in a selfish way, cuz I am gonna miss her terribly. But I am so very happy for her! What an exciting adventure! I love you and I miss you all ready Isabella! The painting is of Sleeping Beauty on the pages of Sleeping Beauty. Expect to see more of this nature.

New York, January 2010

Hey all, its been over a month since I last updated (I did cheat and past date the christmas one, but that was for my own purposes so when I look back on 2009). I am not one for resolutions, and I am not proud of how I just dropped the ball on my blog in 2009. It was a very interesting year, in fact the last 2 years have been very interesting. I bring that up to say that I am going to me making a real effort to make my blog part of my life again. I really love doing it, and I is a shame I just let it go. I am even contemplating doing a project on my blog to help keep me accountable. I may do left handed experiment. But if I decide that is something I can commit to I wont start that until my blogs 4th Birthday on January 31, 2010. Any ways for lack of knowing a better way of starting this blog back up I am just going to jump right in. Enjoy!

New York January 8, 2010 - January 13, 2010

Day One, Friday January 8, 2010

John Bre and I landed at JFK at 3:45pm NY time. Melissa was nice enough to pick us up from the airport. We went back to her place where Josh made chille. By 6:45pm we were sitting around the apartment, and I lured a group of us out into the city
And so began our first night out in the Big Apple.
We got a cupcakes from Crumbs. Mine was red velvet.
We got coffee and I tried on a hat. :P
Then we met up with my friends from back home Kristen, Melinda, and Natalie. They had the wonderful idea of going to see the Upright Citizens Brigade. T'was fun!

And then when I got back to Melissa's Bre let me take a funny Picture of her.

Day Two, Saturday January 9, 2010

Melissa's Party was today, and we needed to go into the city!

Pigeons guarded the subway.

When we got into the city we needed to look at clothes. But not before we got coffee, where better to get coffee? Dean and Delucca. Bre got coco, John espresso, and I was feeling a cup of joe with a plain scone. When we went out side to look at the Ice skaters we were warmly and bravely, I might add, greeted by this little dude. He was a cute little bird that wanted some crumbs of my scone, so I obliged him.

And then there was Melissa Party.

It was fun.

Day Three, Sunday January 10, 2010

I got up "early" and met Natalie, Kristen, Brigid and Melinda at The Brooklyn Tabernacle for the noon service. It was powerful the spirt is moving there, i'll post my notes from it soon, (yeah that right Church Notes are coming back!! :D). Then the 5 of us got brunch. I took pics while we waited to be seated.

Then we walked to the brooklyn bridge, this area here is refereed to as DUMBO [Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass] :P

Walking across the Bridge was one of the Highlights of this trip. It was beautiful.

The other side.
We then got coffee and went back and passed a really cool church on out way to Natalie's apartment. I loved it! So cool, like out of a movie it had brick exposed walls! We then proceeded to have a little dance party on the terrace. Then I left the girls and when back to M's to play Super Mario Brothers Wii with John and Bre! (yeah that rhymed)

Day Four, Monday January 11, 2010

I was supposed to wake up with others and head out to the park early to ice skate and then hit up the MET, but that didn't work out too well. But I did get to meet up with Melinda, Kristen, and Natalie one last time before Melinda and Kristen had to go back home. We played int he park and took pictures. And I was told that it is not nice to tell a woman to "Shut up...", even when it is clearly a joke. Thanks ladies...

SQUIRREL!!!

Met up with Lizzie and the gang after I said my good byes to Melinda, Natalie, and Kristen. We got lunch at a cool little diner before we headed over to the MET , where I got a feta cheese burger.

Lizzie's coco looked wonderful. :)

And then to my disappointment and dismay the MET was closed on Mondays. I was bummed, but we made the best of it we walked across the park to the Upper West Side.

It was a beautiful walk. :)

When we got to the Upper West Side I went to an art store and got some supplies to make Melissa's birthday present. :)

Day Five, Tuesday January 12, 2010

I was determined to get up early and go to the MET, it was my last full day in New York.
Melissa was kind enough to join me. :)

We got a fancy brunch in the Upper East Side.

/cheer

:::TANGENT ALERT:::
This is my jacket that I got for $18.00 :D

And so the fun began! I took so many pics, here are a "few" that I really enjoyed.

This is painting by one of my favorites painters, John Singer Sargent. I got to see 4 originals of his. So so so AWESOME!
VOLDERMORT!

And then I drew Melissa. Bre and John met up with us then they all humored me and...

...went with me to Riverside Park. I wanted to see if I recognized any You've Got Mail stuff, but alas I did not. But there is always next time :)

After we finished exploring Riverside Park we headed out to Melissa's parents house for dinner. Where her mother made us a wonderful dinner, I had my first lobster! After dinner we went back to M's and I finished the painting, and didn't go to sleep.

Day 6, Wednesday January 13, 2010

I went home. :( My flight was at 7:00am
I almost missed my flight, at one point I was running down the terminal with no shoes on while hearing them announce my name on the PA. And I had a four hour layover in SF :/
