Last week, not this past Sunday but the one before, the study was on how important it is to be humble. It was good to be reminded about how intentional humility needs to be. It is not something that will grow slowly on it's own. Its like a bean sprout in a 4th grade classroom. There needs to be intention behind it. That bean sprout won't grow with out the windowsill and moist paper towel. The same (forgive the weak analogy) goes for humility, we tend to it with the everyday stuff. When you choose to be humble in how you clean your room, drive your car, do your laundry, and buy your coffee its going to be that much easier to be humble when it is something that really matters.

Church Notes | Contradiction
A few months back we had a series at church about living a life that demands an explanation. Living a life that makes people ask why, but in the best way possible. For the christian, like myself, we need to live in contradiction to the world, in the macro and the micro. In what we plan to do with our lives, and with what we plan to do with our day. So often we can be consumed by two things. One would be indifference, not caring about our lives and the lives of others around us, living for each fleeting second. Secondly would be intimidation, we drown in all the problems of the world not knowing what to do or wear to start, allowing past and future problems prevent you from doing anything in the present. Living with contradiction in mind will help in both cases, it's an easy and effective step to walking against the World, which is one step closer to the Lords will and design for you. Which in my opinion is a very good thing. :D

Meeting
Notes and doodles from my meeting. I got barked at twice for drawing during it. What's frustrating is that I focus best when I can doodle and take notes.

A Piano, a sketch, and a Birthday
Had some fun chilling after Phil's birthday party at Melinda's house. Jared played the piano and I TRIED to draw him, notice all the swirly mumbo jumbo to hide all me mistakes :P
But shhhh don't tell anyone. ;)

Superbowl Drawing Game
This is a game that my dear friend and old roommate Ryan and I played while watching the Superbowl this past Sunday. What you got to do is draw a picture with blank word bubbles, when you are done drawing you pass it to the other person and they have to fill in the word bubbles.
It was a lot of fun, and I plan on doing it much more! Maybe Ryan will scan and post his side of the game? Hmmmmm?

Church Notes | Guilt or Conviction
This was a study from waaaaaaaaaaay back in June. I drew it with hope of coloring it but never got around to it.
"Don't feel guilty for where you are at, but convicted about where to go from there."
That stuck with me. So often we get hung up on guilt. It's okay to have an emotional response to what you have done, but to just sit and stew in it can be a very bad thing. Guilt can be a very selfish emotion, typically it is focused on what "I" did. Instead of dwelling on what "I" did I need to remember what "He" did. If I am truly repentant His sacrifice on the cross covers my transgression. I need to realize that a better use of my time is getting up and doing something for the Lord by serving His people. Turn that guilt into conviction.

Church Notes | Woes & Warnings
I drew this guy at church b/c a friend of mine at work was talking about grim reapers.
So I was playing with that imagery while listening to the service.
What stood out to me was the need to keep Christ in the center, it is way too easy for us to loose sight of Him in all our rules and regulations. We need to be focused on the holy spirits leading, so that we don't let a blessing turn into a curse. Nothing is beautiful out side of the Lords will.

I drew this guy while on a 15 at work, and then I tried to color him all cool at home... keyword "tried" :/
I like how the robe turned out, but I hate the hood.
