This One Time in the Commissary...

The other week I was walking with my buddy Shane to get some coffee in the commissary at work when I noticed a woman doing something that really just mesmerized me. I walked up on her filling a Cholula bottle with ANOTHER bottle of Cholula.

I know that this sounds so odd and boring, but if you could see how each drop of this hot sauce blossomed out that Cholula bottle free as a drop of rain on windy day, only to be dragged back down into the prison that it had just a mere second before escaped from.

Yes I realize I am being overly dramatic, but I don't care. I though it was a funny story and I wanted to draw it so I did.

I have been working on some boards over the last couple of months, this was a needed, and CONSTRUCTIVE break from that. :) I am still green so be nice.

These are my roughs, look for the "cleaned" up ones soon.

Sara the Secretary who is a Cat.

I did this drawing about how my boss dictates to her cat in the middle of the night.
It's not true, but I wish it was. :D

Grim

I drew this guy while on a 15 at work, and then I tried to color him all cool at home... keyword "tried" :/
I like how the robe turned out, but I hate the hood.

R004 Doodles

Some drawings I have done these past few months at my stint at Apple.

This here is my buddy Dj.
This is supposed to be Britney...
Here is Kelly.
This drawing of Jessica is one of my favorites.
I did these 3 when I was in Downtown Fullerton with some work peoples...

Kyler
Elizabeth
last and most definitely not least Francisco (...thats fun to say.)
This is of Bill Rachael and Matt as cats. It was 3:45 am at a Denny's after we saw the midnight showing of Avatar.

And these last two I did during an all store meeting. I drew all my managers, minus one that was not in my line of sight.
I colored this one and added the quote as a good bye gift to our senior store manager. We all miss him.

Jim Henson Studios

I got to work at Jim Henson Studios!!
Nuff said!

This was so cool! It was originally the Charlie Chaplin lot. It's old school Hollywood and nearly 100 years old. So far I have freelanced there 3 days. I hope to go back for more, cuz I love it, and the people are awesome.

Commissions Complete

The Commissions are finally done! And it only took me a month and three days. But i did have over 25 to draw. :/ Sorry it took me so long, they took longer to draw than I expected. I probably wont have open-call commissions like this again for a while, if I do commissions again it will most likely be themed, like patronuses or you as food objects. Now would that be interesting to any of you out there? If so let me know by leaving me a comment.

Here are a few samples.

Lake Country Journal Magazine

My first Cover!

This is a Minnesota based magazine, Lake Country Journal, that I do editorial illustrations for from time to time. This past summer I tossed around the idea of doing a cover to the art director, back in October I got an e-mail from her offering me the cover for the Jan/February Issue, of course I jumped on it. I finished it months ago, but today copies came! If you see it in a book store somewhere let me know! I wanna go look at it on the shelf.

Working it in

At work this week I caught up with all of my projects, so I started to work on some filler work. I decided to make some "entourage" elements, "entourage" being people, plants, and such. In the midst's of drawing a woman sitting down sipping coffee I decided to make some familiar faces. When I was done Ron and Hermione were ready to stroll the streets in front of some new posh project generated by KTGY.

Work

People I drew for work...
... I like their beady eyes.
