Meet The Knight Owl

Last week I devoted way too much to designing this little guy, but it was a of of fun and a nice break.

Why take so much time to draw an owl themed knight? I will tell you why. Yachtclub Games putting out a game later this year called Shovel Knight, and part of their Kick Starter campaign was an art contest. The winner got the $500-tier rewards and the possibility of the character making it into the game. Sadly I did not win, but I did get an honorable mention, and some pretty cool complements (check out the comment they left on the picture). But the best news is that they haven't picked the character that they are going to add into the game, so there is still hope!! Tweet at them to add @frakfraco's Knight Owl to the game!! Here is their twitter handle @YachtClubGames.

:P

Below is the presentation I emailed them. ENJOY!

Meet The Knight Owl! Don't let his size fool you, this little guy is a force to be reckoned with. Being the former inventor for the Enchantress herself he's got some tricks up his sleeves. His armor is covered in feather-like blades that he can throw at his enemies, a creation of his own design. This inventor gone rouge is on the lamb and is hiding out in the forest. If you by chance cross his path be careful, he is only out for himself.

• Pros: He is as fierce as he is inquisitive, and his whit is as sharp as his armor; the perfect party guest.
• Cons: He is very nosey and is quite the gossip.

He likes to jump.

He is short.

He is fashionable.
This cloak helps him remain unnoticed, he is on the lamb after all.
And he would LOVE to be in your game!!

This is how I Imagine The Knight Owl and Shovel Knight's first encounter going.
And yes he did invent that bridge.

Lastly here are some sketches of The Knight Owls development :)
Just for fun.

WHOO should you add to Shovel Knight?
The Knight Owl that's whoo!!

P.S. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!
Please keep up the good work! And lets all be friends!

Hoo Me?

I watched the "Splicing"episode of Batman Beyond tonight.
So I drew myself with a little splicing of my own.

I would splice owl DNA! :P

The Fallies of Frankie

Last Friday and Saturday I had a rough couple of days, my clumsiness managed to reach new heights.

Friday afternoon I managed to bite my own finger so hard that I drew blood. MY OWN BLOOD!

Twenty minuets later I discovered that I managed to smash one of those McDonald's Apple Pies in my pocket, covering my ear-buds and 2 of my favorite drawing pens in dumb apple-goop.

Saturday morning I fell off a rock and halfway down a hill.

To top off all the fun, on Saturday night I decided to burn my iPhone case on a candle at the dinner table.  #YAY #sarcastichashtag

I worry for my future self.

Church Notes | Discover Beauty

Eye for an eye was't obligatory revenge, eye for an eye was intentional and intelligent mercy. Back in the day the punishment often out weighted the crime, at the risk of overly simplifying it eye for an eye was much better than eye for a life. In what ways can I be intentionally and intelligently merciful today? Maybe a better word for "merciful", in this context, is patient. How can I love those who put me down? Serve those who label me closed-minded? Minister to those who consider me stupid or weak? First step is to be intentional. Ask the Lord to show us their beauty, and realize that they too were created for great and wonderful things. So we can see them for who they are, despite what they are doing and how they are acting. The next step is to be intelligent. We MUST ask the Lord to give us discernment on how to interact with them. I would argue that spiritual warfare is much more of an art than a science. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit one step at a time will help us minister to each individual we encounter. It might be sitting down and talking with them about Christ, it might be sitting down and talking to them about Downton Abbey. Most of the time it's just being being a patient and humble person, who is willing to smile and wave on a regular basis. Ask the Lord show you the beauty around you, and turn the grey into color. Trust me, it makes this life much more fun. Not easier, just better.

TRON: Uprising

Thanks to my buddy Bryce I found a new obsession
TRON UPRISING
So of course I cope with this new interest that same way I always have, I draw myself into it! I tried to draw an Owl Pattern the "Tron-lines", but yeah that didn't really work out. So I just went with the a whole roman numeral 3 vibe on my chest for my suffix

Downton Frankie

I watched a lot of Downton Abbey while home sick today.
I would now like to work at an such and abbey.
I would probably get sick of it soon enough, but I would be fun to learn all the traditional ways to prepare things.

And if for nothing else the TWEAD!!

Ecclesia Advent

Here are some Church Notes that I have been drawing and painting and just not posting, which is stupid. I love doing these I dunno why I just don't post them more often.

Well last month at Church they did a teaching series on Advent.
Highlighting 5 different aspects on the Hope what we have through Christ.

Peace (That week I didn't draw anything)
Hope
Joy
Love
Light

I know this is somewhat of an Ironic image of hope, but keep in mind that the night before I had just went and saw The Christmas Carol with my family. But we do need to be carful where we place out hearts. This study was on how we face disappointment, and what can happen to our hearts when don't get something we were hoping for, and how important it is to place our hearts in the Humble and Powerful hands of out Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This study was on Joy, and how joy is our anchor in the tumultuous sea we call emotions, and that the reason for Joy is truth. Joy is rooted in truth. Truth is constant and unyielding. "Truth" is the loving and understanding parent patiently waiting out the temper-tantrum of its screaming toddler "Emotion".

This was a crazy good sermon, and I am ashamed it has taken me this long to write about it, many of my first impressions lost. But what is the bug take away now 3 weeks later is that Love has the ability to awaken us. Out pastor, Joseph, was speaking about the pain that Love can bring, and lot of times that pain and sorrow we feel for people is our hearts being awaked to justice and the lack-there-of.

The box in this drawing represents the lies that we believe, the lies that lock up our hearts hearts shutting them up in darkness. The candle represents truth.
